From Sunshine Review
8 August 2008
For the first time, citizens of Collin County are able to see online where their tax money is going. With the online publishing of their check register, Collin County claims to be the first county in the nation to do so.[1] The press release stated, "Collin has become the first county government in the nation to post its check registers for online viewing and inspection, part of an aggressive fiscal accountability program to open up its ledgers to the public."[2]
