In May of 2008, the Missouri Department of Revenue raised the fees for accessing public motor vehicle and driver records from less than 1/2 a cent each to $7 dollars apiece. Three businesses (R.L. Polk & Co., Explore Information Services and SAMBA Holdings) filed a lawsuit to block the increased fees. [1]
Cole County Judge Richard Callahan questioned the decision, and a temporary court order blocking the fee increase has been put in place. "A hearing over a permanent court order is scheduled for June 20" [2]
