Missouri Municipal League

The Missouri Municipal League (MML) is a taxpayer-funded lobbying association in Missouri. It was organized in 1934. It is represented by the National League of Cities.[1]
656 cities, towns and villages -- comprising 95 percent of Missouri's urban population -- pay taxpayer-funded dues to belong to the Missouri Municipal League.[2]
Position on eminent domain
In January 2009, the MML filed two lawsuits arguing that the fiscal impact statements prepared by the state auditor and the ballot language approved by the Missouri Secretary of State for two Missouri Eminent Domain Reform Initiatives planned for the 2010 ballot in Missouri are misleading. In particular, the Missouri Municipal League believes that the fiscal note prepared by the state auditor is wrong because it underestimates the costs on cities.[2]
MML says it "strongly opposes any attempt to limit a municipality's power of eminent domain".[3]
