USASpending logo

USAspending.gov is a website run by the federal government that tracks government spending. The website cam as a result of the Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act of 2006. The legislation sponsored by US Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK) and US Senator/Current Presidental Candidate Barack Obama(D-IL). The website offers downloadable data on spending for many federal agencies.

The website allows anyone to access government records on spending allowing for a more transparent federal government. The website and legislation were a true bipartisan effort, showing that both Democrats and Republicans care deeply about government transparency.
